Oral, Maxillofacial and Facial Surgery Department
The inpaient Department for Oral, Maxillofacial and Facial Surgery is managed by the physicians Dr. Eissing and Mr. Heise of the Implant Center Emsland, Practice for Oral, Maxillofacial and Facial Surgery. Patients are treated inpatiently in the Bonifatius Hospital, and the outpatient care is given in the Practice. This ensures the complete care of patients from preoperative preparation, to inpatient treatment, to postoperative follow-up care from a single source.
The Department has a good interdisciplinary cooperation, in particular with the Anesthesia Department. When the clinical pictures need expertise from other medial areas, the department cooperates with the other specialist departments of the house, e.g. with the Accident Surgery and the ENT Department.
Oral, Maxillofacial and Facial Surgery (OMF) combines general surgery with dentistry. For this reason, OMF surgeons often acquire their special qualification through a double degree in which they study both human and dental medicine.
