Therapy of arteriovenous malformations
These malformations are congenital or accident-acquired abnormal connection between arteries and veins or sacculation of veins. Chronic growth of there formations can have different symptoms.
The aim of the treatment to normalize the venous and arterial flow, in order to avoid organ damage or to minimize consequential damage.
In addition to the operative procedures with the connection or removal of vessels, various catheter methods are available. Spirals, tissue adhesives or particles can be introduced into the malformation, which then close the affected vessels.
