Varicose veins therapy

The occurrence of varicose veins (varicosities) is the most common disease of the venous system. Varicose veins in not a simple cosmetic defect, it also causes tiredness, swelling and heaviness of legs. For diagnostic we use digital pressure photomicroscopy as well as Doppler and duplex sonography. In the case of the last, narrowings, lime deposits, but also widening of the veins can be recognized by means of the colored representation of the blood flow on the ultrasound image. The X-ray examination with contrast agent is only necessary in the hanful of cases.

Varicose veins are treated either conservatively with the aid of compression stockings or surgically in the form of varicose vein removal and sclerotherapy as well as using less invasive methods such as laser coagulation or endovenous gluing under local anesthesia. The choice of the method depends on the characteristic of the varicose veins and the individual risk profile as well as the financial abilities of the payer.
